The Homoeopathic Psychiatric Association began its journey in 2018 with a shared vision—to establish a dedicated platform integrating Homoeopathy and Psychiatry. Recognizing the crucial role of mental health in homoeopathic treatment, a group of Senior most Homoeopathic Psychiatry Graduates initiated telephonic discussions, forming a community dedicated to advancing this interdisciplinary approach to start in Kerala.

Despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating floods in Kerala, our commitment remained unwavering. Virtual meetings became a space for meaningful discussions, knowledge-sharing, professional growth, and providing mental health support to those in need during these difficult times. Over the years, this online network grew stronger, reinforcing our belief in the necessity of a structured organization for Homoeopathic Psychiatry, as it requires a supportive team effort to showcase its full potential to society.

A major milestone was achieved on October 16, 2022, when we held our first in-person meeting at Shalimar Regency, Ernakulam. This gathering was a turning point, leading to crucial decisions that shaped the identity of our association.

During this meeting, we appointed Dr. Tajuddin K P as our Founder President and Dr. Rema Ramkumar as Vice President. Dr. Tinu Mathews was entrusted with the role of Treasurer, while Dr. Ramiz Ibrahim took on the responsibilities of Secretary, and Dr. Jithin M Ouseph was designated as Joint Secretary.

To further strengthen our organizational structure, Dr. Mridul A S, Dr. Hasan Jawahar, Dr. Sreeja K R, and Dr. Neethu Raj were appointed as key members of the Executive Committee, ensuring a strong leadership team dedicated to advancing the association’s mission.

In response to the misappropriation of our objectives and bylaws by other organizations, we took the strategic decision to redefine the association within a structured, statewide framework. Initially established as the Kerala Homoeopathic Psychiatric Association, we later formalized our identity as the Homoeopathic Psychiatric Association due to legal considerations. During this process, we meticulously refined our objectives and bylaws and successfully registered the association under the Society Registration Act XXI (1860) in Kozhikode KKD/CA/192/2023).

To ensure efficient operations and collective leadership, we established a core committee and an executive committee to oversee various aspects of the association and manage other committees. As our journey progressed, we expanded our reach, welcoming regular members, student members, associate members, and volunteers from both within Kerala and beyond.

Today, the Homoeopathic Psychiatric Association stands as a rapidly expanding organization, dedicated to research, education, and clinical excellence in mental health care through homoeopathic psychiatry. Our collaborative efforts encompass:

  • ● State government mental health project collaborations
  • ● Central government mental health promotions & partnerships
  • ● Mental health camps tailored for different age groups and conditions
  • ● Social media awareness campaigns, promotions, and collaborations
  • ● Annual magazine publications highlighting advancements in psychiatry
  • ● Website development for digital updates and outreach
  • ● Online and offline clinical discussions to mentor young psychiatrists
  • ● Academic enrichment programs for professional development

With these ongoing initiatives, we continue to reinforce our foundation, striving towards holistic mental healthcare, beginning with the people of Kerala as our initial focus.
